About Jared Schraub

Hi, I’m Jared. I’ve spent the last two decades building robust software systems, leading engineering teams, and trying to convince computers to do exactly what I want them to do.

I am a full-stack engineer and team lead with a career that spans the telecommunications, big tech, and high-frequency finance industries. My path has taken me through T-Mobile and Microsoft, as well as over five years in the financial sector, primarily at Citadel.

Throughout my entire career, I have worked across the full stack. I started out with a heavier focus on backend architecture—spending my days in SQL Server and Java EE—but over time, my center of gravity gradually shifted toward the UI. Today, I run a frontend team at a financial market maker, where we leverage TypeScript, React, and C#/.NET to build high-performance applications.

This blog is where I unpack that experience. It’s a place for me to share my opinions on software development, offer advice on technical leadership, and document the things I’ve learned while solving complex problems in demanding environments.

My Methodology (and a Note on AI)

I believe in using the right tool for the job. When it comes to code, that might mean strict typing and functional patterns. When it comes to this website, that means Artificial Intelligence.

I am an engineer by trade, not a professional writer or a graphic artist. My goal with this site is to express my ideas as clearly and constructively as possible. To achieve that, I use AI tools to help polish my prose and generate the imagery you see here. The technical concepts, the opinions, and the architectural advice are 100% mine—the AI just helps me deliver them to you without the typos.
